Asset Fine-grained Access
Using this, you can allow/restrict technician access to certain assets/consumables based on criteria or product types. For example, you may need only a certain group of technicians to have access to routers, switches, and printers. In such cases, you can configure a Fine-grained Access (FGA) to allow access to product types with routers, switches, and printers and then associate the FGA with the intended technicians.
To do that,
- Go to Setup > Users & Permissions > Fine-Grained Access.
- Click New Asset FGA.

- Enter a name and description for the Fine-Grained Access configuration (FGA).

- Select the technicians you wish to link with this FGA. You can associate a maximum of 100 technicians from this page. If you need to add more technicians, you can use the Manage Technicians option in the Asset FGA list view.
Note: FGA will not be applied to SDAdmin, SDAssetManager and AssetConfig roles as they have visibility over all assets and consumables. Hence, technicians with those permissions will not be displayed in the technicians drop-down in the FGA form.
- Choose which product types (assets and consumables) the selected technicians should have access to. Choose the relevant product types from the drop-down menu. If you want these technicians to have access to all product types, select All Product Types. When you choose All Product Types, the Advanced Criteria will be mandated.
- If you wish to further fine-tune access based on specific criteria, explore the Use Advanced Criteria option. For example, you can specify that access is granted only to product types in the In Use state. Advanced Criteria cannot be applied for consumables.
- After configuring the FGA, click "Save" to apply the settings.
Note: Fine-grained access will be applied as per the user’s system permission. For example, if the user has access only to specific sites or only has view and edit permission for asset module, then fine-grained access condition will be applied with limit to those sites/modules alone.
