Contract Relationships

Map relationships between contracts with the same vendor as parent and child contracts. This relationship mapping allows you to nest multiple contracts within a single contract and also ensures that the nested (or child) contracts are completed before the main (or parent) contract expires. Creating a relationship between contracts also enables you to track them in one platform, in either the parent contract or the child contract.

If you manually close an active parent contract, then the associated child contracts will automatically expire. This helps situations in which you have to close multiple contracts you made with a particular vendor.

Note that the parent-child relationship can be mapped only between contracts with the same vendor. Also, the parent contract must be an active contract and the expiry date of the child contract cannot exceed the parent contract's expiry date.

Associating Child Contract

To associate child contract/s with any contract, go to the contract details page. Navigate to the Contract Relationship tab and click Associate Child Contract. Alternatively, you can go to Actions >> Associate Child Contract.

On the displayed pop-up window, choose one or more contracts from the list and click Associate.

After the child contract/s are associated, they will be displayed under the Contract Relationship tab of the current (or parent) contract. To view the child contract details, simply click its name.

Under Contract Relationship, you can dissociate the child contract/s and associate new contracts as well.

Associating Parent Contract

You can associate the parent with a contract while creating or editing the contract.

To associate the parent contract with an existing contract, go to the contract details page. Navigate to the Contract Relationship tab and click Select Parent Contract. Alternately, you can go to Actions >> Select Parent Contract.

On the displayed pop-up window, choose the parent contract from the list and click Associate

After the parent contract is associated, it will be displayed under the Contract Relationship tab of the current (or child) contract. To view the parent contract details, simply click its name.
