Change Management - Planning

In this stage, the change management team begins to formulate how the change process will be carried out by outlining a detailed plan that discusses the probable impact of the change, how they plan to actually roll out the change, taking into account the downtime or any other contingencies, associate any related incidents or problems that triggered the change request, configure tasks to be executed, and also layout a checklist, if necessary.

Impact Details

Under this, you can record the impact the change might have on the overall business. Decide whether to inform the customer about the downtime or connectivity issues this change might cause.

Rollout Plan

In this plan, you can have a detailed description of how the process will be implemented. For example, will the change be implemented in phases or in one shot must be detailed.

Backout Plan

In this plan, you can mark down backout plans for a change if it were to fall through. You can add how it will be canceled, or the effects mitigated.

Check List

List down the activities that must be done before the change request can progress into the next stage.

Downtime Schedule

You can use this to record the probable downtime that might occur when the change request is underway.

Release Schedule

Note down the usual time taken to release the service associated with the change.

Associations

Under this you can markdown, the incidents that caused this change, the incidents this change may cause, and the problems must all be associated in this stage.
