Release Management - Deployment

After successful UAT, the release request enters the Deployment stage. In this stage, the release package authorized by the Change Management process is deployed to the production environment with exhaustive planning.

First, ensure that the target environment is ready to admit the commissioned changes. Then, analyze the CIs involved and mitigate any potential risk of disruption. If the release involves the deployment of multiple components, the activities must be sequenced to avoid any scope for error. You can achieve this by creating tasks and mapping dependencies between the tasks. After these initial preparations, you can start deploying the release.

Once the release is deployed to the target environment, you must verify whether the deployed service works smoothly for stakeholders and end users. At any time during deployment, the release poses major problems, you must be prepared to back out of the release with minimal or no interference with the production environment.
