ServiceDesk Plus Cloud scans VMware's ESX and ESXi and Hyper-V hosts and fetches the virtual machines (VMs) created in the hosts. Besides scanning, you can import and manually add hosts and VMs. Scanning host VMs helps you track the relationship between hosts and associated virtual machines and manage them better with reduced human resources.
Virtual hosts and VMs are essentially workstations/servers, but treated as hosts and virtual machines. The application provides a separate view for virtual hosts and virtual machines under Assets, besides displaying them under workstations.
ServiceDesk Plus Cloud supports all types of scanning for Hyper-V hosts, but only Network scan and Asset scan for VMWare's ESX and ESXi. Imported or scanned hosts will be added under Assets >> Virtual Hosts as well under Workstations/Servers. VMs created in the scanned hosts will be added under Assets >> Virtual Machines as well under Workstations/Servers.
The relationship between a VM and its host specified during the VM import will be marked and displayed in the application. Like any workstation, all details of the virtual host, such as computer system, operating system, memory, processor, and data store will be fetched during the scan. Additionally, following data of associated VM(s) will be fetched: name, memory reservation, memory limit, memory shares, CPU shares level, CPU limit, and CPU reservation.
Go to Assets >> Virtual Hosts and VMs >> Virtual Hosts. (You can add hosts from workstation/server list view as well.)
On the displayed page, click New.
Provide a name, select a model, and choose a VM platform from the available options (VMWare, Hyper-V, and others).
Fill out the form with other necessary information and click Save.
Adding Host from Workstation/Server List View Page
Besides the information displayed for workstations, virtual hosts will contain a separate tab to display the associated virtual machines.
On the list view page, you can import hosts from CSV, XLS, and XLSX files using the Import button. Use the VM Platform filter to narrow down the virtual hosts.
Under Actions, you can perform bulk actions, such as scanning and deleting hosts, assigning users, adding to a group, associating with a department, configuring depreciation, modifying state, modifying product, changing credentials, configuring remote control settings, and reprinting Barcode.
To import workstations as virtual hosts, specify VMType as Virtual Host. If the VM Type is Virtual Host, the VM Platform field becomes mandatory.

On the displayed page, click New.
Provide a name, select a model, and choose the virtual host of the VM.
Fill out the form with the necessary information and click Save.
Virtual machines will have the following details fetched during the scan: name, memory reservation, memory limit, memory shares, CPU shares level, CPU limit, and CPU reservation.
On the list view page, you can import VMs from CSV, XLS, and XLSX files using the Import button.
You can filter the VMs by VM platform and virtual hosts.

You can view the VMs created using a host under Virtual Machines in the host details page. Likewise, you can view the host of a VM under Asset Details in the VM details page. You can view the host - VM relationship in the corresponding workstation/server details page as well.
