Software and Software Suite

ServiceDesk Plus Cloud scans your network to identify the software installed on workstations and manages software licenses, license agreements, and service packs. You can access software under Assets > Software & Licenses > Software.

Software Suite

A software suite is a collection of related software applications. The vendor provides a single license for the software suite, which manages all the component software in a machine.

Example: Adobe suite and Microsoft Office suite.

Add New Software/Software Suite

  1. Go to Assets > Software & Licenses > Software.

  2. Click New and select New Software or New Software Suite.

  3. Use the pointers below to fill out the fields:

 

Field

Explanation

Software Name*

Specify the software name.

Version*

Enter the software version.

Software Type*

Select the software type from the drop-down.

Software Category*

Select the software category from the drop-down.

Manufacturer*

Select the software manufacturer.

Cost($)

Enter the cost of the software. This field is supported only for service catalogs.

Description

Specify relevant information about the software.

Images*

Add images to the software. You can attach images from the computer or the Cloud.

Suite Component Software

(Applicable only for software suite)

Component Software*

Software that is part of the suite is called component software.

Select the component software to be included in the suite.

Identify Suite Installations

(Applicable only for software suite)

Identify the suite installation based on the following rule

Suite installations are workstations in which the suite licenses can be allocated.

 

You can identify suite installations automatically or manually by enabling the respective radio buttons.

  1. To detect suite installations automatically, set a rule to determine the number of software installations on a computer by specifying the number.

  2. For manual selection of suite installations, choose from the Matched Suite Installation table.

When adding a software suite, managed software of the same manufacturer will be listed in Component Software. The software type will be set to Managed by default, and users will not be able to modify it.

Create Custom Filters

Apart from the default filters, you can create your own filters.

 

 

Column Chooser

Customize the information you want to view on the list view. You can choose up to 70 columns to view on the asset list by clicking the column chooser icon. You can also re-order the columns using the icon.

Search Software: Use the icon to perform a column search on software.

Table Settings: Use Table Settings  to customize the columns displayed on the list view page. You can also sort the columns and set the number of records displayed per page.

Edit software/software suite: You cannot edit software details. However, you can modify the manufacturer, software category, and type:

Delete Software: Select the required software/software suite and click Delete.

Bulk actions can be performed for edit and delete operations.
